Regional Safety & Compliance Manager (11/4/08)

We have a great opportunity for a person with trucking safety experience or an insurance carrier loss control consultant with transportation and ergonomics assessment skills to be a Regional Safety & Compliance Manager in southern Ohio for the largest Truck Transport Operation in North America. Duties would include:

  1. Provide regional leadership, active direction and support for all corporate safety and loss prevention issues, regulatory compliance requirements, security and environmental policies/procedures.

  2. Promote safety and compliance with regulations, assuming responsibility for training drivers and other employees and monitoring the effectiveness of the training procedures.

  3. Partner with the terminal managers, site safety trainers and Operations to analyze exposure and loss information in order to effectively control and prevent accidental losses in the organization.

  4. Audit and analyze company/customer buildings, equipment and operations to identify unsafe conditions and hazards. Recommend and implement process changes to assist in the corrective action. Provide written reports to management to communicate the current status of audit findings and corrective actions.

  5. Conduct accident and incident investigations and make recommendations for corrective action.

  6. Support and develop site Safety Trainers to ensure appropriate employees safety training, regulatory compliance and cost containment.

  7. Performs monthly visits to selected dealers to observe undecking safe practices.

  8. Train drivers in the areas of safe driving, load handling and securement, and DOT compliance requirements

  9. Work on special Safety and/or regulatory compliance related processes and projects as approved by the Director or the Customer.
