A Brief Synopsis of February’s Professional Safety Journal – Strategic Safety Measures
Posted: Feb 27, 2017
The benefits of applying the 7 Strategic safety measures can be achieved by harnessing the power of leading indicators, like near misses. These may be used to measure the results of a proactive safety program which develops a positive safety culture. This drives incident rates to acceptable levels and firms financial and Safety goals. The adoption of these 7 Strategic goals requires a departure from traditional safety practices but can drive improvements through your safety management system.
Take the time to understand these strategic safety measures: Read your February ASSE Professional Safety Journal.

Outgoing President’s Message, Brad Weber
Posted: Oct 03, 2016
It has been quite an honor serving as your Chapter President this year. It has been a year of a lot of new faces. We saw new smiles added to the Executive Board as well as many new members. Welcome to all of the new faces around southwestern Ohio. I have not had the pleasure of meeting some of you but would certainly like to soon. You are what makes our Chapter great!
This year we had fun and shared laughs and some stories at the U-Pull-&-Pay tour, our strategic planning meeting and the ever-popular OSHA update meeting. Our topics were diversified and the feedback shows us that everyone can learn something valuable from most meeting topics. I encourage all members to come to the monthly meetings and increase your knowledge of some aspect of safety. We had it this year from Workers Comp Fraud to Industrial Hygiene and Kellogg’s to baseball. Our Member Appreciation event helped me network with other professionals over a ballgame. I believe the most valuable thing ASSE has to offer me as a member is other members. I can call on so many people now that can help me when I get stuck on an issue. I know I am not the only one who gets stuck! You can’t buy that kind of network anywhere at any price. You are wasting your dues money if you do not use the network. I am particularly proud that our six-state Region VII came in third place in the Safety Matters Challenge for all of ASSE. This challenge was quite an honor to win as it involved donations to the ASSE Foundation, which assists with scholarships and many worthwhile endeavors for the promotion of safety in our world.
